Built By Wendy – Spring Collection

Wendy Mullin’s Spring line is making me so ready for warm weather. She always creates the perfect transition pieces like that jumpsuit, blazers, light-as-a-feather trousers, and short-sleeved cotton dresses. Love that green striped dress paired with the pinky-beige round shades. We’re almost there!

See the rest of the collection here.

Something tastes different, Maybe its my tongue

This song has been on repeat in my iTunes for the past 48 hours. Ingrid Michaelson is an awesome female singer-songwriter from NY. You’ve probably heard some of her music – its been in a bunch of tv shows (Scrubs,  Bones, Grey’s Anatomy) + ad campaigns (Old Navy’s Fair Isle). Anyways if you haven’t downloaded her other music yet, you should! Enjoy.

Little Comets | Joanna

Discovered this song via We Are Hunted and I am loving the music video for it. Every woman in this video’s real name is Joanna.

Now out for @thepatriotlives’ birthday!

Jumpsuit

This is the one single item from Alice + Olivia’s Fall Collection that I would love to wear. Although I usually find Alice + Olivia absolutely charming, I really didn’t like their Fall 2011 Collection. In some ways, I feel like the aesthetic of their line (Girly, Frilly, and Feminine all come to mind) is just an aesthetic that isn’t trendy right now. Women (and men) are moving more and more towards androgynous looks, and fashion is no longer about showing off your femininity, your body, or your beauty, but instead it is about personal style, comfort, convenience, and even practicality. Hence blogs such as, oh, I don’t know…The Man Repeller? And hence trends such as:

Baggy Trousers + Harem Pants

Pleated Maxi Skirts

Loose-Fit Crop Tops

Lace Up Shoes (Both summer + Winter – better protection for the ankles!)

Cape Coats + Parkas

One Piece Bathing Suits

But the shape of everything in A+O’s Fall 2011 collection, with the exception of a token pair of trousers and one or two tops, seems outdated to me. Maybe its because my personal style has changed (as it tends to often). Or maybe it is outdated. What do you think?

John Stezaker | Mask Series

I love this Mask series by English conceptual artist John Stezaker. He fuses old photographs and movie stills with postcards and photographs from nature (mostly mountains and waterfalls) to create something completely new.  This exhibition is currently showing at Whitechapel Gallery in London.

Skinny is Out.

I don’t know about you, but I am so sick of skinny jeans. I think the trend lasted longer than anyone ever expected, and now I have officially hung them up in exchange for slouchy trousers, harems, pleat-fronts, pajama-style, and wide-legs (or flares for us short girls).  Most of these go best with cropped tops and blouses, a nice change from the super baggy boyfriend-shirt that went so well with skinny pants and leggings. Which style do you prefer?

Here’s where to get them:

Just a Quick Post to say that I…

Just saw this rainbow maxi dress by UNIF in Nasty Gal’s newest Lookbook and I’m in love! It looks gorgeous with jeans and could also be worn with a light summer dress, shorts or even a bathing suit! This would be beyond perfect for a summer in Vegas. The best part of all?  Its only $128!!
